Speed Up Your PC
Is your PC running slower and slower each day ? This issue is too common and one of the most irritating computer dramas there is.
Fortunately , speeding up your computer can be done with just a few quick steps. You don’t need to be some kind of tech guru to get the most out of your computer. You also don’t need to spend loads of dollars on tech help .
Steps get your PC optimized for performance :
By following these steps, you should definitely notice some improvement in performance and responsiveness on your PC .
1) Get Rid of Clutter
Over time, your PC will get cluttered. This happens to every PC I have ever seen. You will slowly build up files, programs and all kinds of other clutter . You need to reduce clutter to keep your PC in top shape .
The quickest way to remove clutter is to start getting rid of unwanted programs and files. In the control panel on XP, Vista, Windows 7, you can add/remove programs. Start removing programs that you no longer use. Most of these programs may be running during startup, this will slow down startup time as well as hogging resources while you work.
2) Reduce Startup Programs
This follows on from the first point . Removing startup programs will speed up boot time as well as making your computer far more responsive.
Many programs run at boot time and then the process continues to run during your work session. By removing unnecessary services, you can boost performance easily .
To do this, type in “msconfig” in the quick search box. Or in the Run window if using XP.
Click on the Startup tab and remove any programs that you do not need. Be careful here, don’t remove anything you are unsure of.
3) Remove Temp Files / Disk Clean-up
Over time , a ton of temp files will begin to bog down your PC. Be sure to remove temp files and temporary internet files on a regular basis. If you have millions of files bogging down your system, you slow your computer down and lose disk space.
You can remove temp files in your browser, usually under the Tools, Options menu.
A disk cleanup should also be performed on a regular basis. Disk cleanup will remove temp files and help reduce clutter on your hard drive. You can run this by right clicking on the drive letter and selecting Properties. It may take a few minutes, but is well worth the effort.
4) Clean the Windows Registry
This can give a massive boost to your PC performance. The Windows Registry is the control center for your whole PC. Unfortunately, over time this also gets cluttered and filled with invalid keys, corrupt entries and more.
Cleaning the registry requires a third party tool. It is far too complex for any normal person to do (well too tough for me at least). A Registry cleaner will not only clean and fix the Registry, but it will also perform steps 1-3 listed above. In some cases, users have gained over 300% performance gains in just a few minutes of optimizing.
Probably the best products on the market are RegCure and CCleaner. You can read a full RegCure review here.
